„Fit through fruit – we join in!” is the slogan of more than 2000 institutions participating in the EU fruit program for schools.
The aim of the EU fruit and vegetable program for schools is to acquaint children with healthy food at an early stage and make them aware that fruit and vegetables are not only healthy but also tasty. The program is also meant to counter the declining consumption of fruit and vegetables.
To achieve this aim the European Union provides 150 million EURO per year to the member states for co-financing produce deliveries to preschool and educational institutions. Unfortunately the state cannot subsidize the co-financing completely, 50% of the costs have to be covered by third parties.
We, Edmund Bühler GmbH, gladly support and sponsor the EU fruit program for schools in favour of the primary schools in the city of Tübingen and wish all participants in this project fun and success.
